# Update user request status

{% hint style="success" %}
**Access Type**: User Requests - Editor

**Premium Feature**: DSAR
{% endhint %}

Tickets associated with user requests are assigned statuses to help your organization monitor and manage the requests throughout the ticket lifecycle as it moves through your processing workflow. In this article, we will cover how to manually update the status on a ticket.

Click **Privacy Requests** on the left-hand panel and ensure the **User Requests** tab is selected on the subsequent page.

Navigate to any ticket on the list and use the provided **Status** dropdown field to select a new status for the ticket.

{% hint style="info" %}
The status for a ticket can automatically move from **Unverified** to **Verified** if the end-user confirms their request via the automated email delivered to their provided email address when they first created the DSAR.
{% endhint %}

Confirm the decision to update the ticket status in the subsequent modal and click **Yes, continue**.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Note**: Changing the ticket status to certain statuses (*e.g. **Work in progress***) will generate an automatic email to the end-user. [Click here](/privacy-requests/user-requests/update-user-request-status.md) to learn more about each status and the email generated.
