# Reset purpose in configuration tree

Resetting a purpose in your PMP configuration tree will remove any preferences (and sub-preferences) from the purpose. The purpose will remain within your configuration tree. 

Click **Preferences** on the left-hand panel.

Select the **Configuration Tree** tab on the subsequent page and navigate to the desired purpose in your configuration tree.&#x20;

Click the **ellipsis** inline with the purpose name and select **Reset** from the menu.

Confirm your decision to reset the purpose within your PMP configuration tree in the modal and **click Yes, delete!**

All preferences will be removed from the purpose in your PMP configuration tree.
