Trackers in your organization's data manager is a centralized database of IAB declared trackers and trackers added by your organization. In this article, we will cover how to:&#x20;

* [Add tracker](#add-tracker)
* [Add tracker by regex ](#add-tracker-by-regex)

***

### Add tracker&#x20;

Use the provided fields to configure the tracker:

<table><thead><tr><th width="216">Field</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Type</td><td><p>The type of the tracker. Available options include:</p><ul><li>Cookie</li><li>Web Storage</li><li>App Storage</li></ul></td></tr><tr><td>Vendor</td><td><p>Vendor to which the tracker belongs. Trackers can not be added to IAB vendors.</p><div data-gb-custom-block data-tag="hint" data-style="warning" class="hint hint-warning"><p><strong>Note</strong>: The assigned vendor can not be edited once the tracker is created. </p></div></td></tr><tr><td>Name</td><td>Name of the tracker.<br><br><a href="#add-tracker-by-regex">Click here</a> for more information if your organization wants to use regex to add trackers to the database that follow a specific pattern.</td></tr><tr><td>Domain</td><td>Domain associated with the tracker</td></tr><tr><td>Cookie max duration</td><td>Maximum lifespan of the tracker</td></tr><tr><td>Used for the following purposes</td><td><p>Purpose(s) for which the tracker is used</p><div data-gb-custom-block data-tag="hint" data-style="warning" class="hint hint-warning"><p><strong>Note</strong>: The tracker will inherit the legal bases used for its assigned purposes.</p></div></td></tr><tr><td>Description</td><td>Description for the tracker</td></tr></tbody></table>

Click **Save** when finished.

### Add tracker by regex

There are specific use-cases where your organization may want to persist tracker configuration across a group of trackers that follow a particular pattern. Utilizing [regular expression (regex)](https://docs.didomi.io/get-started/general/regular-expression-regex), you can provide the pattern for a single tracker and Didomi will apply the tracker's settings to any tracker found that matches the pattern.&#x20;

> **Example**:
>
> Your organization has three cookies being dropped by the same vendor on a domain that should have the same settings. The trackers that are dropped are:
>
> * `_ga`
> * `_ga#`
> * `_ga_12345`

Using the example above, your organization can attribute and persist the same settings across all three cookies with a regex of `^_ga` .

To define this pattern, enable the **Name is a regular expression** toggle and use a regular expression in the **Name** field when adding or editing a tracker in your data manager.

<figure><img src="https://1825037175-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FNDxbAdc00ce6bH5u1urh%2Fuploads%2F8DU9CXxgD1u80NDd988Q%2FScreenshot%202026-07-29%20at%209.07.56%E2%80%AFAM.png?alt=media&amp;token=a1f690a8-ea27-411f-85d0-6d515307bf43" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Click **Save** when finished.

All trackers that match your configured regex pattern will inherit the source tracker's settings.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.didomi.io/data-manager/trackers/add-tracker.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
